Busy Bee

August 12, 2007

I’m starting to feel like I have a real life again. More has happened this week than pretty much all summer. It’s kind of nice, actually. I don’t mind being lazy, but sometimes I get depressed when all I do for weeks is sit around the house. I’ve got to quit being unemployed during the summer.

Speaking of that, I start waiting tables at PHouse tomorrow night. I’m kind of nervous, although I probably shouldn’t be because I know a lot of the people there still, and I think I’ll be a good waitress. I dunno. It’s just something about going back to my old job after more than a year…I guess I’m nervous to see what’s changed. I’ll find out tomorrow, anyway.

Since it’s 11 at night, and I’m not feeling very coherent, I’ll just break last week down by day.
Monday: Got up early and helped Kirby take his truck to the shop. I’m sure I did other stuff, but I can’t remember.
Tuesday: Went swimming with Chels, and Kirby came over after he got off work and we watched part one of season two of Weeds.
Wednesday: Met Kirby for lunch. Drove around with my dad and found a new stereo for my car, since my old one randomly stopped working. Also watched part two of season two of Weeds and Top Chef with Kirby and Chels.
Thursday: Helped Kirby take his truck to the shop again, took my car to the audio place to get my stereo put in, made an appointment for an eye exam, helped take my Dad’s car to get a new stereo, had my car battery die on me, got hired back at PHouse officially, and picked Kirby up from work, took him to get his truck, then came back to his house and hung out for a while before going to Wal-Mart and Target. That was an exhuasting day.
Friday: Got a new battery for my car and got contacts. Started house sitting for Kirby and his family while they’re on vacation. Had my radiator hose crack and nearly overheat my car.
Saturday (yesterday): Fixed my radiator hose, went out to eat with the fam, and kept house sitting.
Today: Was lazy. Went to Target, CVS, and Bueno. Other than that I didn’t do much. Still house sitting though, and my car’s water container thing started leaking, making my car start overheating, so it isn’t drivable.

I really like having contacts. I almost wish I had gotten them sooner, but they seemed so scary! I tried to get them once in 8th grade and couldn’t (for several reasons – allergies, and I was too scared to put them in myself), but they’re so much easier this time around, and more comfortable too. So yeah.

If you can’t tell, this has been a shitty week as far as my car is concerned. I spend $200 on a new stereo, and as soon as I do my car starts crapping out on me. Other than fixing the AC I haven’t really had to spend much on it in the year I’ve had it, and now all of a sudden so much shit is going wrong that I can barely drive it. Seriously. Three big issues in three days. It’s ridiculous. The battery was a four year battery that was SIX years old, so I understand it dying. And the other two are just from the Texas heat. But still, it’s frustrating to pour all this money into a car I don’t even like. Not to mention, I’m not getting any warning lights coming on when my car starts to overheat, so I went from having a reliable old car to an unreliable old car, and it sucks.

K I’m off to bed soon. Tonight’s my last night house sitting and I’m hoping to get a decent night’s sleep so I can be okay for work tomorrow. Ciao.

Progress?

May 28, 2007

Tonight feels early. It’s nearly 2am and while my body is getting tired, my mind is still active. I have no desire to go to bed because I have no obligations tomorrow. I tell myself that I’m enjoying my week of sleeping in because I’m about to be in school again, and working, and busy – but really, it’s just me being lazy.

At the beginning of the year, I made five resolutions.
1. Become an early riser.
2. Seriously limit caffine intake.
3. Save $2000.
4. Cross three things off my life “to do” list.
5. Stop procrastinating.
Now, six months later, I get up around 8:00 most mornings, drink no more than one coke per day (usually a can), have $1000 in the bank but no job, have crossed “make out in an elevator” and “bake a heart-shaped cake” off my list, and done nothing to stop procrastinating. I can’t decide whether to be proud of my progress or annoyed that I haven’t made more of it.
